The Beach Café Indigenous Gardens
Transforming Public Spaces
The gardens at the Pennington Beach Café are a flagship project for the Conservancy, transforming a high-traffic public space into a vibrant showcase of local, indigenous KZN flora. Our goal was to create a beautiful, water-wise garden that not only enhances the area for residents and tourists but also serves as a living classroom for sustainable coastal gardening.
Born from a partnership between the Conservancy and the Beach Café management, this project relies on the hard work of dedicated volunteers. It demonstrates a practical commitment to preserving our unique coastal vegetation (coastal bush) and supporting local biodiversity.
