🎉 40 Years of Dedicated Conservation!

Since our founding, the Pennington Conservancy has been committed to safeguarding the unique coastal ecosystems of the KZN South Coast.

About Our Urban Conservancy

The Pennington Conservancy is a registered urban conservancy situated on the picturesque KZN South Coast. Our protected area encompasses the critical biodiversity corridor between the Mzinto River in the north and the Mkumbane River in the south.

Pennington is a coastal village defined by its natural beauty. We are privileged to steward a diverse ecosystem comprising the Indian Ocean coastline, coastal forests, riverine estuaries, and wetlands. The Pennington Conservancy Committee, supported by a network of dedicated volunteers, works tirelessly to protect these habitats against environmental degradation and invasive threats—a mission we have upheld for four decades.

Our Conservation Mission

"To beautify and indigenise Pennington village and to preserve in perpetuity the natural environment of coastal and riverine forest, coastal bush and grasslands of the area for the benefit of the creatures occurring there, and the delight of present and future generations of humankind."
