Pennington Wildlife

This series is a collection of some of the wildlife you can encounter in the Pennington area.

There are many more little creatures to be found and during your walks in our forested and reserve areas, we hope that you are fortunate enough to encounter some of them. Most are very shy and the most common sightings for these are early morning or late afternoon as it starts to get dark. Some are nocturnal and sightings can be a rare experience, with only footprints, grazing and the odd quill left as evidence that they were even there. Thanks to our strategically placed night cameras we know they are, and that they are thriving in the area.

We are currently trying to increase the owl population in the area as there has been a large increase in the mole population in Umdoni Park and few natural predators. You may see the results of our efforts in various places, with the owl houses that have been built to encourage nesting in the area.
